When Jessica Salazar was just fourteen, she was brutally gunned down in gang violence. At age eleven she wrote the following poem: “Most of us don’t want to die, but anyway, in our coffin there we lie. You could have been stabbed, or shot, or took an overdose of pot. . .I don’t know about you, but I have had enough.” We too have had enough! Her death was a major wake-up call, and it is in her memory that Operation Jessica was founded.
